We are proud to announce that a recent publication describing our work with impact-resistant composites won an Outstanding Technical Paper award at the 2022 Composites and Advanced Material Expo (CAMX) in Anaheim, CA. The paper is:

Design and Fabrication of an Energy Absorbing Hybrid S-Glass/Epoxy Composite Laminate with Shear Thickening Fluid Infused Fabrics for Impact Applications
Authors: Erik A. Hobbs, Richard D. Dombrowski, Norman Wagner, Bazle Haque
DOI: 10.33599/nasampe/c.22.0028

This technical paper describes the results of our NASA SBIR/STTR supported work that developed hybrid fiberglass/STF-layer composite materials that possess substantially higher resistance to impact as compared to conventional composite materials. The materials were originally developed with the goal of increasing the impact resistance of space suit hard torso components, but the patent-pending technology is applicable to a variety of markets, including automotive, sporting goods, aerospace, military, and more.
